Bella ❤️

We rescued Bella from the South in August of 2018 when she was 6 years old. We had never had a dog before and with three children ages 6, 9, and 10, we knew we did not want a puppy.

Our Sweet Paws adoption coordinator sent a picture of Bella and told us she would be a good fit. Bella had been rescued before then surrendered again, through no fault of her own. We instantly fell in love!

Just as she was coming north she tested positive for heartworm.  Sweet Paws told us we could change our mind if we didn’t want to deal with the vet appointments and protocol that went along with heartworm.  We were already in love so we took it on.  It was the best decision we ever made.

Bella is as close to perfect as they come!  She is the quietest dog ever, we’ve only heard her bark 5 times... in two years.  She is respectful (never chewing ANYTHING ) and loves to be with family and friends.  She is the ultimate ‘momma’s girl’ and could go without a leash because she just follows mom around!  She curls up to cuddle with everyone, and has no problem squishing her butt next to mom, gently pushing a brother or sister away, but then resting a head in their lap!  She has made neighborhood friends, who she likes to walk up smell and then return to mom. If we had to list flaws, she loves to eat and is sometimes a beggar.  She also doesn’t know how to play fetch ... BUT she can get rowdy with her squeak toys!

After 18 months, she finally tested negative for heartworm.  And we have learned that she is a lake girl who loves running into the water and jumping on the little waves!  We are beyond in love and can’t imagine life without our girl!
